2020 Traditional Bathroom Trends

01 April 2020

If you’re looking for traditional bathroom inspiration, then look no further! This blog will walk you through all the timeless trends for 2020; from show-stopping black and gold interiors, to colourful innovative designs…

Jet Black Bathrooms

Jet black has been a bathroom trend for many years and it is clear that it is here to stay; especially for traditional bathrooms. This colour is guaranteed to make a statement and when styled with a hint of gold you’ll end up with an interior that is elegant, sophisticated and has a modern 1920’s feel to it.

The Burlington Jet collection is the perfect place to start if you want black to be a feature colour in your bathroom design. Start by picking your key feature, for example, our Jet high level WC, and expand your ideas from there. You may want to go for all Jet ceramics and pair marble tiles to create a monochrome effect or, for a truly classic look, opt for a Edwardian basin with full pedestal in the Jet colour option.

If you are looking for a more contemporary feel, choose the Victorian basin with chrome washstand for a high shine, luxurious, yet classic bathroom scheme. This colour scheme has endless opportunities and makes it easy to achieve your dream traditional bathroom.

Go Bold with Colour in the Bathroom

The bathroom is a place where you can afford to be a bit bolder with colour as it is generally a much smaller room compared to others in the home and where you tend to spend a bit less time. It therefore doesn’t need to be safe and neutral like the main rooms in your home, so why not be brave and go for colour in your bathroom interior?

One of our favourite coloured bathroom looks for 2020 is black and orange. These contrasting hues and textures work perfectly together for a seriously bold and decadent bathing space. However, if this is too bold for you, then stick to traditional white ceramics with chrome brassware, with walls painted in Pantone’s 2020 Colour of the Year, Classic Blue, for a relaxing and calming on-trend bathroom.

Monochrome Bathrooms

Simple yet timeless, monochrome is a trend that works for all bathroom schemes and won’t need updating when the colour trends begin to change. The classic contrast of black and white works seamlessly with both understated and bold monochrome bathroom looks.  A versatile choice, there are a multitude of ways to successfully create a monochrome scheme without compromising on functionality.

If you’re going bold in the bathroom with statement black and white tiled walls or floors, then why not create a cohesive and considered look and choose black brassware, such as the Birkenhead basin taps and the Eden Thermostatic Shower? For a more pared-back look, combine a white Close Coupled WC with a black lever with a White Edwardian Basin and black indices on your brassware for a considered, stylish monochrome bathroom.
