Blending Traditional Design with Modern Touches
Traditional bathroom designs exude the elegance and sophistication of the past by replicating the styles and decorative features of times gone by. But bringing this same sense of luxury into your home doesn’t mean creating a perfect copy of a historical bathroom. In fact, that would probably make your design look dated. Bringing the beauty of traditional design into your modern home is all about striking the perfect balance between classical designs and modern touches to achieve a luxurious and sophisticated timeless bathroom interior.
Focused on bringing traditional designs into contemporary spaces, our product designs are inspired by iconic historical eras of design. But, rather than create perfect replicas, we reinterpret those styles and adapt them for the modern home. We’ve put together some of our favourite bathroom designs that blend traditional designs with modern touches to help you get inspired for your bathroom interior…

Art Deco Meets Modern Luxury
Art Deco is possibly one of the easiest traditional styles to blend with modern aesthetics as it is full of chic glamour and luxury. Drawing upon the lavish designs that lined the prosperous Mediterranean coast in the 1920s, our Riviera Collection celebrates Art Deco styling with subtle reinterpretations to seamlessly fit today’s modern traditional bathrooms. The glamorous nature of Art Deco combined with the minimalist designs of our Riviera collection allows this range to harmonise beautifully with modern touches, such as soft peach tones and marble wall panels or tiles. The use of a matching Gold finish across our Riviera taps and furniture, as well as our mirrors and accessories, achieves a striking reference to the past while keeping up with modern preferences.

Modern Stylings With Traditional Flair
A great way to blend modern and traditional interior styles is through colour. Traditional design allows you to be bold and colourful, while contemporary design is turning away from neutral palettes and leaning more towards statement colours. This creates the perfect bridge from one style to another. Take the green used here for example. Green pops up a lot in modern design because of its connotations with nature and the outside world, but it is also synonymous with traditional design styles. When combined with the modern wall panelling trend, this feature ties the two styles together. To bring through the essence of Edwardian design, we’ve used a luxurious freestanding bath with delicately designed bath feet and a traditional bath mixer tap. This statement piece screams historical design. Finally, we’ve used a Chalfont furniture unit and a mirrored cabinet to complete the design. These pieces feature a modern reinterpretation of traditional design, finished in a more contemporary dark grey colour. |

Modern-Day Arts and Crafts
The designs of the Arts and Crafts movement are another style that can easily be brought into the modern era. Our Guild Collection is inspired by the Arts and Crafts movement of the late 19th century. Bringing the power back to the decorative arts, the Arts and Crafts movement placed importance on beautiful, well-made objects that could be used in everyday life. Rejecting excessive ornamentation, this era placed an emphasis on high-quality pieces that were built to last. To combine this style with a modern bathroom, we’ve used the Guild furniture unit and mirror in a stunning dark grey. The minimalist appearance of these pieces makes them perfect for blending with modern styles. To bring these traditional pieces into a contemporary space, modern wall panelling and bold patterned tiles have been used, another common feature of contemporary interior design. The matching Gold finish throughout the whole bathroom gives a nod to the past while remaining on trend with modern colour palettes. |
